DESCRIPTION The AH505 provides an output DC voltage equal to the positive peak value of an analog input signal. Because of the rapid reaction of the built-in switches, signals with very short duration, even signals resembling pulses, can be evaluated with these devices. The AH505 has a bandwidth of DC to 20MHz for a continuous sinusoidal input signal. The acquisition time is 60ns when a 10V input step is measured. If the input voltage is lower, these acquisition times improve for a 1V input step to 45ns. The command logic is TTL compatible, where logic ZERO means gate ON. Reset and gate time are 50ns and 30ns, respectively. Because of the unique gating of the input signal, the devices can be placed in a "HOLD" mode whereby the output voltage remains constant and is, thus, independent of the signal at the input. A reset function returns the signal voltage to zero. The AH505 provides the designer with some outstanding features that allow applications in a variety of areas and is a frequency range spanning DC to 20 MHz. This device requires a "positive only" input voltage. If negative going voltages could be encountered in a application, it is advisable to include a clipping diode in the design of the input to the AH505. Applying negative going voltages to these devices will result in the gradual breakdown of the charge capacitor and specified parameters can then no longer be guaranteed. This device has very small sensing errors. The AH505 has a maximum error of only +/- 2% or +/-20mV. The small gain error and a useful input dynamic range of 100mV to 10V make this device useful in many applications. Generally, this device will operate well at even lower input voltages, but these operating conditions cannot be guaranteed. An external offset adjustment can be easily adjusted for offset voltages well below +/-3mV. |
